Street party for 'Blind Dave' Heeley

A blind West Bromwich man who ran seven marathons in seven continents in just a week will attend a street party to celebrate his achievements today.

Dave Heeley, aged 50, will travel in an open top bus from his local railway station to the party near his home this afternoon.

Mr Heeley, a father-of-three, became the first blind person to complete the gruelling challenge by running in the London Marathon.

Mr Heeley was accompanied on each marathon by his sighted running partner Malcolm Carr, who will also attend today's celebrations.

After finishing last weekend's race, raising thousands of pounds for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Mr Heeley said: "It's been a fantastic adventure and one I'm going to talk about for a long time."
