Billy Wright Metro tram.

The legacy of football hero Billy Wright was celebrated yesterday at a ceremony naming a Midland Metro tram in honour of the Wolverhampton Wanderers and England legend.

Guests of honour were Vicky and Kelly Wright, the footballer's daughter and granddaughter, who unveiled a commemorative name plaque on tram number seven.

The decision to name the tram after Wright was made after Centro held a public vote.

Wright, who died in 1994, made 490 appearances for Wolves over 20 years and 105 international appearances for his country, 90 of them as captain.

He was the first player in the world to win more than 100 caps.
