David Sullivan denies allegations of sexual assault

Birmingham City FC co-owner David Sullivan has strongly denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman.

The 59-year-old Blues chief, of Theydon Bois, Essex, said he was questioned by police on Tuesday.

Essex Police said a 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual touching following a complaint made by a 25-year-old woman from east London.

The alleged incident happened at an address in Theydon Bois. The arrested man has been bailed until August 28, police said.
The Blues co-owner said: “I refute all the allegations. The allegation is that I touched somebody. The question is ‘did you touch with consent or without consent?’ My argument is that it was with consent.”

Sullivan said: “I voluntarily attended a police station to make a statement. In due course the police will decide what action to take.

“I have done nothing wrong and in due course that will come out. I have not been charged with anything.”

He added: “I was officially arrested but not charged. They have to arrest you to take an interview under caution. I was only in the station for 45 minutes. We will see what develops

“Anybody can make an allegation against anybody in this country and the police have to investigate. I’m a rich person so I’m a target for this sort of thing. That is the world we live in.”

He also said he would carry on as normal with his business work at St Andrew’s.
