Four die in crashes on Midlands’ roads

Four people were killed in road crashes across the Midlands over the weekend.

Two died when the motorbike they were on crashed on a bend on a Shropshire road.

An ambulance service spokesman said no other vehicles were involved in the incident on a bend known locally as Trumpet Bends on the Eastern Primary in Telford.

Also on Sunday, a man died after the van he was in crashed into a tree and caught fire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Belmot Road, Needwood, Staffordshire shortly after 4.35am. A paramedic officer and an ambulance crew attended.

Meanwhile, two drivers were in police custody yesterday after a fatal collision in the early hours of Saturday.
A passenger in his early 20s in a Honda Civic died when it collided with a Mazda at about 4am in Lincoln Street, Heath Town, Wolverhampton.Emergency service officials said the Mazda was left unattended when officers arrived at the scene and the Honda driver, a 22-year-old man, had minor injuries. The drivers of a dark blue Mazda and silver Honda were in custody, police said later.
