Birmingham pair "lucky" to escape from blaze
Two people have had a "very lucky escape" after they were saved from a blaze at a house in Birmingham.
Fire crews were called to Lakeside Walk, Erdington, in the early hours to tackle a kitchen fire.
A man and a woman, both 26, suffered smoke inhalation. Smoke detectors at the home had been deactivated, a West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said.
