M42 closed as crash causes huge delays

Emergency services attend the accident on the M42

Five people were injured in a four-vehicle pile-up on the M42 on Friday.

The accident occurred just after 11am on the northbound carriageway between junctions two and three near Bromsgrove and involved four cars and a car transporter vehicle.

Travellers get out of their cars as tailbacks form in the afternoon heat

Three fire crews attended the scene and police closed the carriageway for nearly an hour while the road was cleared, causing huge delays and massive tailbacks.

Four of the injured were taken to the Alexander Hospital in Redditch.
