Police are trying to track down a distinctive statue of Christ that was stolen from Pershore Abbey in Worcestershire.
The £1,000 statue of Christ the Boy Child is thought to have been taken from the Church Walk building between 12pm and 3pm on May 31 or June 1.
The brown and gold item had been attached to the wall in the south transept area of the Abbey and is made from wood and plaster and is around 30cm tall. PC Rob Carberry said: “It is shocking to think that someone has entered a place of worship and taken such a precious item.
“We would like to appeal to anyone in the area who may have since anything suspicious between the times given, or to any collectors of this kind of statue to please get in touch if they have any information that could help with enquiries.”
Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000, quoting 203/S/030609, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
