Pilot killed in Warwickshire glider crash

Air accident investigators are trying to find what caused a glider crash that killed the pilot in Warwickshire on Saturday.

Emergency crews tried to free the trapped man, who has not been named.

The glider came down in a field in Ratley, near Banbury, just after 5.30pm.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a glider which had crashed in the field.

“Ambulance staff immediately assessed the occupant of the glider, a man, but unfortunately it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him.”

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said the force and air accident officials had begun an investigation into the cause of the crash.
