Kings Heath pupils learn morris dancing

Children at a Birmingham School were given a taste of traditional England when they learned how to morris dance.
More than 90 children at Kings Heath Primary School took part in workshops with members of the Cotteridge-based morris dancing group Black Adder.
The dance session was one of many activities the children are doing as part of a study into cultural identity.
Deputy head teacher Paul Clabon said: “The topic they are looking at is ‘ourselves’ and as well as looking at things like the body and senses the children have also been doing work around cultural identity.
“As part of that they have been looking at dances from lots of countries including dances from cultures which are represented in the school such as bhangra.
“We wanted to include something which was traditionally English in those activities and Black Adder kindly agreed to come into the school. The children watched the dancing, took part in workshops and were able to have a go.
“We are very grateful to Black Adder because many of them took time off work to come and share their expertise with the children.”
