Jane Andrews escape triggered painful memories for Rick Cressman

He said: “I thought she would be well out of the country by now so I am extremely relieved. I just hope that the authorities wake up to her manipulative ways and I hope they actually treat her as a prisoner who has committed premeditated murder.

“I expressed the opinion months ago that she should not have been in an open prison after eight and a half years in the first place. It’s a total insult to my brother Tommy’s memory.

“The justice system doesn’t give, as it stands much of a deterrent to people relative to murder. Andrews was given a tariff of 15 years and his reduced to 12 after appeal.

“Prior to what happened now it has all been talk about her preparation for life outside. Now I would hope the earliest opportunity she should get for parole is 15 years. She should be back into a proper prison.

“She is still a dangerous person, she is volatile unreliable and if she got into a relationship in the future with someone else who wasn’t satisfying her she could still I think be dangerous again.”

Mr Cressman, who is demanding to meet with the Justice Secretary Jack Straw about “incompetence” in his department, added: “Before the tragedy, I could see was very possessive and liked to get her own way. Even in her dealings with people at prison I’m sure she has been very astute, conniving and devious. She is clever at manipulating people, she gives all the right signs to enable her to improve her position in the prison pecking order. They have fallen for vulnerable lady, ex Royal family employee bit and given her far too much trust and belief. She can’t be trusted, she has lied, cheated and killed.”

Andrews had worked as a dresser for Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, for nine years. She was based at Buckingham Palace and travelled on official overseas visits with the duchess and her former husband, Prince Andrew.

She was in a relationship with the businessman for over two years before she murdered him in the home they shared in Fulham.

Her lawyers argued that she was defending herself after Cressman raped and threatened to kill her

Mr Cressman’s wife Sue said: “He should be here now, with his family and his own children but she took that all away from him and then in court she tried to blacken his name which was devastating for the family. She tried to save her skin by saying he did some terrible things. Previous girlfriends say he would never behaved in such a way - he was a true gentleman.”
