Horse dies after being hit by cars on M40 in Warwickshire

A horse has died after being struck by two vehicles on the M40 in Warwickshire, causing long delays for motorists.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the animal was struck by a car and a van on the southbound carriageway after a horse-box overturned at about 8.30pm on Tuesday.

A second horse was also injured in the accident which happened between Lapworth and Warwick, and was treated at the scene by a vet.

An ambulance service spokesman said no motorists were hurt during the incident.
