Cyclist dies in Stechford crash
A cyclist has died in hospital after a collision with a heavy goods vehicle in the Stechford area of Birmingham.
West Midlands Police said the driver of the lorry, a man from Burton-upon-Trent, had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after the accident in Station Road at about 2.30pm on Thursday.
A force spokesman said the 55-year-old haulier had since been bailed pending further inquiries into the death. It is believed the cyclist and the Volvo lorry were both travelling in the same direction when the collision occurred near to Stechford swimming baths.
The cyclist, a 42-year-old man from Bordesley Green who has yet to be named, was critically injured and died at Heartlands Hospital.
