Man's body found in Staffordshire house

A dead man has been discovered by police at an address in Staffordshire.

The body was discovered in Meadway Street, Burntwood, near Cannock, where he was thought to have lived, on Monday morning.

He has been named locally as Richard Deakin, believed to be aged 27 or 28, who was a former pupil of Cheslyn Hay High School.

Officers from Staffordshire Police were trying to piece together what happened after they were called to reports of suspicious activity at the property.

Part of Meadway Street, including the house, was cordoned off while scenes of crime officers and detectives carried out inquiries.

A Home Office post-mortem examination was due to be carried out to establish the cause of the man’s death, which police said was being treated as suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police on 0300 123 4455 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
