Chris Tarrant next to be honoured on the Broad Street Walk of Stars
TV and radio personality Chris Tarrant is set to be the next celebrity to be honoured in Birmingham's Broad Street Walk of Stars.
The 63-year-old host of TV quiz Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will receive his star next month.
Tarrant, who was born in Reading, Berkshire, has strong connections with the West Midlands having been educated in Worcester and then studying English at the University of Birmingham.
He said: “Although I’m actually a Southerner, I think I’ve become an honorary Brummie. I love the city and I’ve had a million laughs in Brum over many years.”
The former Tiswas presenter said he was “absolutely thrilled” to be following in the footsteps of other West Midlands legends Julie Walters, Frank Skinner and Lenny Henry.
“For me, Birmingham was where it all started – firstly on ATV Today as a young, long-haired reporter and then, of course, on Tiswas.
“They are proud memories and I’ll always be in debt to the city and the people who gave me my first real break.”
Chris will be presented his accolade at The Lord’s Taverners Eve of Edgbaston dinner at Edgbaston Cricket Ground before it is embedded in Broad Street at a later date.
