Ten-year-old Worcestershire boy to cycle from Land's End to Dover

A 10-year-old Worcestershire boy will be cycling 660 miles from Land's End to Dover this summer to raise money for a children's charity.

Jake Phipps from Pershore has set himself the gruelling challenge to raise money for Action for Children and has persuaded his mum Nic and family friend Philip Woods, from Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, to take part too.

Team Bike With Jake will be cycling along Britain's south coast during the first two weeks of August, carrying their tents and kits on their bikes, and staying as close as they can to the coastline.

Setting off on Monday, they aim to arrive in Dover on August 19, raising as much money for Action for Children as they can.

Jake has been training hard for months now and even has a blog so people can follow the team's progress. As well as riding his bike, he has been working out in the gym and climbed Mount Snowdon with his Scout pack in June.

Nic and Phillip have also been training hard with Jake, as well as getting the tents, equipment and campsites prepared.

Jake said: "I love cycling and I am doing this difficult challenge because I would like to raise lots of money for children who need help.

"It's great having a blog page so that people can follow us and send us messages.

"It would be brilliant if other cyclists would like to join Team Bike With Jake along the route. We would love to see them."
