A 22-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a pensioner who was found dead at home in Rubery, Birmingham.
Cory Youlden was remanded in custody at Redditch Magistrates' Court charged with killing Paul Cox, burgling his home and stealing his car.
The body of Mr Cox, an 83-year-old who lived alone, was discovered at his semi-detached house in Waseley Road, last Friday.
Youlden, of Hagley Road, Birmingham, was ordered to reappear at Worcester Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Williamson said: "I would like to express my gratitude to those people who have assisted us and responded to our appeals by coming forward with information to help our investigation."
Another man arrested in connection with Mr Cox's death has been released on police bail until July pending further inquiries, while a third male has been released without charge.
