M6 lorry crash causes huge delays
An overturned lorry on the M6 caused a severe tailback on Wednesday afternoon and left its driver seriously injured with head and arm injuries after he was thrown from his cab.
The motorway was closed northbound between Junction 5, Castle Bromwich, and Junction 6, Spaghetti Junction, causing massive congestion and five hours of delays.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a lorry which had overturned had collided with the nearside barrier. The lorry was carrying a cargo of cattle feed which had been strewn across all three lanes of the motorway.”
Repairs to the carriageway kept the northbound route closed for hours after the crash. The driver was airlifted to hospital.
