No.26 Paul Wilson

The last few months have been a busy time for Shakespeare Putsman chief executive Paul Wilson.

Paul Wilson

In April he led the merger of two of Birmingham's oldest law firms - Shakespeares Solicitors and Putsmans - to create one of the city's top five providers of legal advice. The new firm has £20million income and employs some 270 people in offices in Temple Street.

It is focused on maximising its Birmingham base to serve its local, regional and national clients.

Paul moved to Birmingham from Ireland in 1994. Having worked for two banks in Birmingham city centre, and been chief executive of St Philip's Chambers in Birmingham for five years, he became chief executive of the Thames Valley practice of law firm Olswang.

That didn't last long and he switched to Putsmans in July 2006.

Paul brings a passionate and driven approach to his work, "focusing on building a business in which people are genuinely free to try new and different ways of achieving excellence whether in client service, technical advice, or in a support role".

Away from the office Paul enjoys the odd round of golf, spending time with his family and "indulging his weakness for caffeine".

Gives the impression of being the sort of businessman who is probably admired and despised in equal measure.
