		<title>Police arrest more than 200 repeat offenders in Birmingham</title>

		<description><![CDATA[<p>Police in West and Central Birmingham have arrested 203 offenders during the first six weeks of Operation Serve and Protect.&nbsp;Serve and Protect is a three-month operation that focuses on the management of previously prolific offenders as well as those currently on police bail.&nbsp;Since April 2, officers from Birmingham West and Central, which covers Ladywood, Perry Barr and the city centre, have arrested 33 individuals for breaching curfew.&nbsp;An additional 27 people have been arrested for beaching bail conditions while 30 individuals have been arrested for breaching their electronic tags.&nbsp;Officers have arrested 52 people wanted on warrant and conducted in excess of 400 stop searches. This has resulted in seven offenders being recalled to prison during the last seven days.&nbsp;Further arrests have been made for various offences including the possession of offensive weapons, illegal gambling and prostitution.&nbsp;PCSOs from across the city have also been reassuring victims of anti-social behaviour by carrying out more than 220 visits. &nbsp;&nbsp;Chief Inspector Brandon Langley said: &#8220;Over the past six weeks, we have arrested a core group of offenders through an intensive, relentless focus on areas where they are known to live, socialise and otherwise frequent.&nbsp;&#8220;We are committed to removing prolific offenders from our streets and are focusing efforts on disrupting criminal activity whenever and wherever possible.&#8221;&nbsp;</p>]]></description>
